Hi all. This week seems to be more about food!
Last Sunday we enjoyed a Brazilian lunch at the church cooked by some of the Brazilian Portuguese. Mainly meat with copious amounts of black beans, washed down with Brazilian version of Red Bull! Discovered that Brazilians are full of noise laughter and fun.
Saturday we enjoyed a quiet day birdwatching locally near A Roche. More and more flamingoes have arrived and also the Storks show signs of extending their families.
Ruth continues to attend acqua aerobics on Tuesdays in the morning followed by our Portuguese language lesson in the afternoon. We have just one more left.
Thursday saw the re-opening of the Mustard Seed when we provided around 20 meals for local Portuguese poor. The mayor is happy if we are just providing for resident poor in Lagos and so we are limiting attendance to these folk although not everyone here is happy with that.
We are continuing to discover more of the area visiting villages as well as nearby Portimao which is the largest town near here. They a have a very western style shopping centre similar to West Quay in Southampton and also a British supermarket! Felt a bit like home.
More visitors and tourists are beginning to arrive and the weather has changed to a steadier warmer climate. We have both been seen in shorts recently!
we are approaching the end of our Portuguese adventure with just 2 weeks left before returning to the UK. So we are packing as much as we can into our last two weeks, including celebrating next Monday our 47th wedding anniversary!
